Liza Minnelli - Love Pains

'Love Pains' is the fourth and final single from Liza Minnelli's Results album.

It was released in the UK on April 1990 by Epic Records. The track was produced by the Pet Shop Boys and Julian Mendelsohn.

The single's b-side is Liza's take on the Pet Shop Boys single 'Rent', which also features on Results.

Steve "Silk" Hurley was commissioned to create several mixes for 'Love Pains' which are spread across the single's various formats.

The single almost reached the top 40, stalling at number 41. This was 21 places higher than the last single, 'So Sorry, I Said'.

Liza Minelli - Results - Album

Results is the 1989 Liza Minnelli album produced by the Pet Shop Boys and Julian Mendelsohn. The album was a huge success in the UK, where it reached number 6 on the UK Albums Chart (promoted by the lead single 'Losing My Mind', which also reached number 6 on the UK Singles chart). The album was less successful in the U.S., peaking only at number 128 on the Billboard Top 200 albums.

According to Minnelli, the album's title came to be when she was at a bar and she complimented a woman on her dress. The woman thanked Minelli and explained that it was her "results" dress. "When I wear this dress, I get results."

Liza Minnelli - Losing My Mind

'Losing My Mind' is a popular song written by Stephen Sondheim for the 1971 musical Follies. It was first performed by Dorothy Collins and has since been covered by many artists such as Shirley Bassey and Michael Ball. The most successful version has been by Liza Minnelli, reaching Number 6 in the UK Singles Chart. It was the lead single for her 1989 album Results, produced by Pet Shop Boys and Julian Mendelsohn. It failed to chart on the Hot 100 in America, but the 12" release peaked at number 11 on the Billboard Maxi-singles chart.

Pet Shop Boys' demo version of 'Losing my mind' (which has Neil Tennant singing the vocal) was later 'tidied up' and released as a B-side on the Pet Shop Boys' single, 'Jealousy'. This demo version contains a scream that Minnelli opted not to include on her release, because Liza thought that keeping the scream would be moking the song.
