Links Are Dead - I Know

I keep getting Emails from people asking me to re-upload the links and music etc. I think people are just getting to those particular pages so are not reading the reason for the dead links.

So I am putting this in place so hopefully people will read it and stop Emailing me about it.

The reason the links are dead is that my account with Media Fire has been closed with all 11,000 files lost. That is why you can not download the things and No I can not re-upload them.

Eventually I will start doing that again when I have found something suitable. In the meantime this blog will be information only blog.

Thank you all

Michaael

Howard Jones - Pearl In The Shell

'Pearl in the Shell' is the fourth and final single released by musician Howard Jones from the album Human's Lib.

Released in May 1984, the song reached number seven on the UK Singles Chart. It features a saxophone solo by Davey Payne of Ian Dury's band The Blockheads.

Unlike Jones' previous singles, the 12 inch single edition did not feature an extended mix of the main track, though an extended mix later appeared on The 12 inch Album.

Instead, the track 'Total Conditioning' was an extended version of the song 'Conditioning' also taken from Human's Lib, featuring additional lyrics lifted from most of the other songs on that album.

Two Limited Edition singles were released featuring the same tracks as above. One was the standard 7 inch in a poster bag sleeve, the other was a shaped picture disc.

Howard Jones - Like To Get To Know You Well

'Like to Get to Know You Well' is a single by musician Howard Jones released in the second half of 1984, which was subsequently included on his twelve inch remix album The 12" Album.

The single climbed to number four on the UK Singles Chart.

The sleeve carried the motto "Dedicated to the original spirit of the Olympic Games". The extended version, subtitled 'International Remix', featured Jones singing in English, German and French.

Two different videos were made. The first featured Jones walking around the streets of London greeting members of the public, accompanied by his bandmates of the time. When the single was released in the US, a new animated video was produced for that market.

The song was included as a bonus track on the singer's second studio album, Dream Into Action.

The song was featured in the 1985 movie Better Off Dead starring John Cusack. It was also featured in the Rockstar game Grand Theft Auto Vice City Stories.

All proceeds from sales of the single were donated to the charity set up in the aftermath of the disaster.

The recording was organised by The Sun newspaper, after they had sold cheap tickets for the ferry on that day. 'Let It Be' was written by Lennon/McCartney and originally recorded by The Beatles in 1969.

Artists to have contributed and performed solo spots on the song are as follows (in order of appearance):

Paul McCartney
Jim Diamond
Boy George
Sara Dallin, Keren Woodward and Nick Kamen
Paul King
Mark King
Taffy
Andy Bell
Pepsi & Shirlie
Mel and Kim
Jaki Graham
Gary Moore (guitar solo)
Mark Knopfler (guitar solo)
Kim Wilde and Nik Kershaw
Edwin Starr

Howard Jones - New Song

'New Song' was the debut single by Howard Jones, and was released in September 1983. The song was from the album Human's Lib, and reached number 3 on the UK Singles Chart. The single spent 20 weeks on the Top 75. In the US, 'New Song' peaked at number 27 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, although it was not released there until early 1984.

The B-Side was titled 'Change the Man'. The 12" single featured an extended version of 'New Song' together with 'Change the Man' and the original version of 'Conditioning', which would be re-recorded for Human's Lib album.

'New Song' itself was later re-recorded for The 12" Album, in a version titled 'New Song (New Version)'. This featured a lot of multi-layered piano, in contrast to the austere synth sound of the original 7" and 12" versions.
