Links Are Dead - I Know

I keep getting Emails from people asking me to re-upload the links and music etc. I think people are just getting to those particular pages so are not reading the reason for the dead links.

So I am putting this in place so hopefully people will read it and stop Emailing me about it.

The reason the links are dead is that my account with Media Fire has been closed with all 11,000 files lost. That is why you can not download the things and No I can not re-upload them.

Eventually I will start doing that again when I have found something suitable. In the meantime this blog will be information only blog.

Thank you all

Michaael

Adam And The Ants - A.N.T.S - Blue Fexi Disc

Adam And The Ants released a One sided Blue Flexi Disc that came free with issue 4 of the Flexi Pop magazine in1981.

Entitled A.N.T.S. it took the disco hit Y.M.C.A, by the Village People and changed the lyrics, turning it into yet another ode to Antmusic for Sexpeople. Pretty funny.

Adam And The Ants - Young Parisians

Young Parisians was the debut single of Adam and the Ants, released on Decca Records, on 20 October 1978. It was produced by the band's singer Adam Ant and session pianist Jo Julian. At this point, the other permanent members of the band were Andy Warren (bass), Dave Barbe (drums) and Matthew Ashman (guitar). Saxophonist Greg Mason also appeared on the A-side.

At the time, the band were combining the punk sound of their earliest days with a more experimental ethos which would characterize their first two albums, the 1979 debut Dirk Wears White Sox and to some extent its 1980 follow-up Kings of the Wild Frontier (by which time only Adam Ant remained from the line-up of the debut single). The A-side Young Parisians was an acoustic/jazz ballad, while the B-side, Lady demonstrated the band's capacity for fast-paced punk rock.

In December 1980, following the initial success of the Kings album and its singles Dog Eat Dog and Antmusic, the single was re-promoted in the UK, reaching number 9 on the UK Singles Chart.

Adam Ants - Goody Two Shoes

'Goody Two Shoes' is a popular song by Adam Ant. The song was released on the album Friend or Foe in 1982.

The title phrase is a disparaging term for someone who is overly virtuous or conformist, and ultimately comes from the children's story The History of Little Goody Two-Shoes, published in 1765.

Following the dissolution of Adam and the Ants in early 1982, Adam Ant pursued a solo career.

His debut as a solo artist, 'Goody Two Shoes' was written by Adam Ant and Marco Pirroni and produced by Ant, Pirroni and Chris Hughes. The song details Ant's frustration with press intrusion, which was reinforced by the video and his clean cut image.

The song was an instant hit, reaching number 1 on the UK singles chart for two weeks in June 1982 and later repeating the feat in Australia. Despite the success, this was his third and final number 1 single. The song was his first and biggest hit on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US, peaking at number 12.

The music video presents a stylized vision of a day in the life of Adam Ant, from dressing in the morning to performing on stage, to being hounded by the media. At the end of the day, he takes home a woman journalist played by British actress Caroline Munro.

Adam Ant - Strip

After the split from Adam and the Ants, Ant went solo, taking his song writing partner Pirroni with him.

In 1983, Ant worked with Phil Collins and Richard James Burgess on the Strip album which was recorded at Polar Studios in Stockholm.

The Title track 'Strip' was released as the second single from the album in 1983 and featured Phil Collins playing drums on the track, and singer Anni-Frid Lyngstad, of ABBA fame, performing the female spoken part on the song.

However the BBC banned both the video and the song which peaked at number 41 in the UK singles chart and number 42 in the US.

Adam And The Ants- Ant Music

'Antmusic' was the third single released in the UK in 1980, from the hugely popular Adam and the Ants album 'Kings of the Wild Frontier'.

'Antmusic' fared better in the UK Singles Chart (than it's previous 2 singles) by peaking at number 2 in January 1981, being held off the top by the re-release of John Lennon's 'Imagine' after his murder in New York City in December 1980.

The video to 'Antmusic' featured the group playing in a discothèque with a giant juke box, and persuading the young audience to turn away from disco music and dance to the new-styled 'Ant-Music'.

The chart success of the single was even better in Australia, where it spent five weeks at No. 1, and earned the band platinum certification for sales of over 100,000. Adam and the Ants toured Australia in 1981 and appeared on influential TV pop show Countdown.
