'The Dollar Album' is the third and final studio album released by the pop group Dollar.
By its release in 1982, Dollar had seen a revival in fortunes following their previous, unsuccessful album. After teaming up with producer Trevor Horn in 1981, the group had enjoyed their biggest success with four hit singles; 'Hand Held in Black and White', 'Mirror Mirror (Mon Amor)', 'Give Me Back My Heart' and 'Videotheque'.
Members David Van Day and Thereza Bazar began work on a new album and wrote and produced the remainder of the tracks themselves. A fifth single, 'Give Me Some Kinda Magic', was released to coincide with the album.
Although it became another top 40 hit, it failed to chart as highly as the previous four singles.
Despite containing five Top 40 singles and a television advertising campaign, the album itself did not fare as well as expected, though it still became their biggest seller, peaking at no.18 and was certified Silver by the BPI.
In early 1983, Dollar were on a promotional tour of Japan with their new single 'Two Hearts'. The formerly dating couple were by this time finding it difficult to continue working together and decided to split. The single was never released in the UK. Dollar reformed in 1986 and despite four single releases, including a top 10 hit, the group never released another album.

Thereza Bazar is one half of UK pop vocal duo Dollar. She released one solo album in 1985 called 'The Big Kiss', which she co-wrote.
'The Dollar Album' is the third and final studio album released by the pop group Dollar.
Dollar released their 7th single in 1981 entitled 'You Take My Breath Away'.
Tereza Bazar's follow-up single was called 'Too Much In Love' and was also released on 12" single featuring an extended Smooch Mix.
In 1989, David released his 3rd solo single called 'She Said She Said' on Union records. Two 12" singles were released both featuring different extended versions of the a-side (Deadly Twist Mix and The Remix).
1987 saw the 15th single release by Dollar which was called O L' Amour.The single spent a totoal amount of 11 weeks on the UK Singles Chart eventually making it to number 7.
In 1981 dollar released their 10th single which made it to number 4 on the UK Singles Chart.
David's first solo single 'Young Americans Talking' was released on WEA records and narrowly missed a place in the UK Top 40 reaching number 43 on the UK Singles Chart in 1983.
Dollar's gorgeous Thereza Bazar with the title track from her 1985 album, produced by the late Arif Mardin. 'The Big Kiss' was released on two 12" singles in the UK. The first one features a Stock, Aitken and Waterman extended version while the second one has an Arif Mardin remix.
By 1986 Dollar had reformed after some time apart and released their 13th Offiacla release called 'We Walked in Love'. The single did not meet with much success reaching number 62 in the UK Singles Chart.
Dollar had been having a difficult time by the time this last single was released in 1988. There had been internal arguments since the band reformed 2 years previously.
'Videotheque' was dollars 4th single from the selfe titled album and was release in June 1982. the single reached number 17 in the UK Singles chart.
'Hand Held In Black And White' was Dollars' 9th Single release and was released in august 1981. The single was the first to be released from the 'dollar' album and reached number 19 in the UK Singles Chart. I am not sure if a video was made for this. I have never seen one. If anyone has an official video of this single and would like to share than please let me know.
The sitcom ‘Three of a Kind’ did a spoof of the song by Dollar called ‘Sing a Soppy Song’ performed by David Copperfield and Tracy Ullman as Dollop in the 2nd series in 1982. I loved this version when I saw it on its original broadcast and managed to see it again on the DVD release. 
The 3rd single to be released from the 3rd album ‘The Dollar Album’ was called ‘Give me back my heart’ and was released in March 1982. The single made it to number 4 in the UK Charts. Like the other singles from the album the single was produced by Trevor Horn whose production work provided Dollar with a more distinctive sound. However, the success that Horn had with the band brought him to the attention of other bands, notably ABC, and it was not long before he was too busy to continue working with the duo.
