Upon its first release in 1982 (through inclusion in the movie Summer Lovers) it peaked at number 30 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and number 46 on the Billboard Black Singles chart in the U.S. However, two years later, when the Pointers were experiencing massive success with Break Out, the song was added to that album and re-released. It subsequently reached number 9.
In the UK the single made it to number 11 in 1984.
A music video was made for the 1984 version of the song. In the video, the sisters are getting ready for a society soiree at a formal club. Anita is shown dressing up and putting on makeup, Ruth in a nightgown seductively and playfully getting dressed on her bed, and June taking a bubble bath. At the club that night, the three women are the center of attention and by the video's end, they have the club on its feet jamming to the song.
The video created a minor controversy because of a shot where June gets out of the tub. Although the towel she has is covering her stomach, it doesn't prevent June from showing a little too much of her lower body. The shot was edited in slow-motion for later broadcasts.
