Classix Nouveaux were a band formed after the split of the X-Ray Spex after the band advertised for a new singer in the Melody Maker. Sal solo answered the advert and the new band was formed. The bands dramatic and heavily made up image helped quickly associate them with the New Romantics movement. However, the groups more guitar-heavy sound separated them from the mostly synthetic rhythms of Japan and Ultravox.Releasing their next album La Verité in 1982, led to the release of their highest UK Charting single, 'Is It A Dream' which amde it to number 11 in the UK Singles Chart.
