'Happy Ever Afer' was the debut single by the fantastic singer songwritter Julia Fordham (wikipedia mistakes this as the 2nd single). The single was released in June 1988 and made it to number 27 in the UK singles Charts in August of the same year.A beautiful single with a simple video made me love the style and performance of this song when I first heard it back when it was first released. The single came about after Fordham had seen images about the South African struggles. A simple but powerful message.
I went to see her live and loved the performance of this single.
Fordham re-released the single again in 2005 in aid of the tsunami appeal. This new version had children singing some of the verses.
Julia had previously performed backing vocals for Mari wilson and Kim Wilde but it was not until her debut album called 'Julia fordam' that her vocal talent and emotional lyrics were introduced to the public. this provided her with a small but committed fan base of which I was one. It was not until the 90's that Fordham wouold have higher success in the charts but that is another story.
