'It's My Party' was originally released by American singer Lesley Gore in 1963. This song hit number 1 on both the pop and rhythm and blues charts in the United States. In the U.K. 'It's My Party', peaked at number 9, becoming Gore's only major hit in the U.K.In 1981 Dave Stewart recruited friend and former Hatfield backing vocalist Barbara Gaskin to record a version of the '60s teen lament 'It's My Party'. Released in the autumn of 1981, the single reached number 1 in Britain and Germany and topped the UK charts for four weeks.
